Setting up your Mac

Make sure to have file extensions visible, so you can see the full file names. Select Finder->Preferences->Advanced and check the box for "Show all filename extensions".

Freeing up space

Not having enough free space on your computer's hard drive causes slowdowns and other problems. The only real fix is to move or delete some files.
